About The Desmond Jackson Foundation

The Desmond Jackson Foundation was founded in 2014 to honor the memory of Desmond Jackson by providing educational opportunities to young African American men in the Seattle area.

Our Mission and Inspiration

Desmond Jackson was a bright, vibrant young man whose life was tragically cut short by a senseless act of gun violence in 2012. At the time of his passing, Desmond was attending Seattle Central College and had big dreams.

Inspired by the promising life he was building, Desmond’s family started the Foundation to address educational inequalities in our community. To date, we have helped more than 50 African American young men realize their dreams of attending college—thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors!

Brian de Place, Board Member

“The Desmond Jackson Foundation tangibly improves lives. I’m so grateful that we are able to provide these scholarships and invest directly in the future of our community.”

Annual Fundraiser

Every November, the Desmond Jackson Foundation hosts a fundraising dinner and silent auction at the historic Mount Zion Baptist Church in Seattle. The event features great food, notable speakers, including community leaders and past scholarship recipients, a moving tribute to Desmond, a cake dash, and so much more!
